Is this the most beautiful smartphone ever made?

Who said smartphone innovation was dead? Sharp has unveiled a gorgeous concept handset that’ll leave you swooning for days.
Sharp has developed a new smartphone display concept called ‘Corner R’ that basically reduces the a phone’s bezel to nil on three sides. The new concept, first reported by The Verge, makes use of Sharp’s Free-Form Display technology, and features smooth, curved edges
The display itself is a fairly standard 5.2-inch Full HD IGZO LCD panel, but it’s been cut into a quirky shape that sets it apart from the traditional flat screens of yore. The bad news is that Sharp isn’t selling a phone with this screen, and there’s a chance that it may never will.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen phone makers experiment with displays. Samsung is noteworthy for pushing its ‘Edge’ screens, which have been seen most recently on the Galaxy S7 Edge, as well as the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. Those screens are different from Sharp’s, however; they’re curved Super AMOLED panels, and boast a more dense QHD resolution.
LG has also shown willingness to break the mould, most obviously with the LG G Flex and LG G Flex 2, which were curved from top to bottom. Then there’s the more recent LG V20, which features a main display plus a smaller secondary screen for notifications.

It’s not clear whether Sharp’s bezel-free designs will ever catch on, however. Although attractive, the display would potentially throw up some serious usability issues due to the difficulty of holding an edge-to-edge design. However, this can be alleviated through software tweaks, so don’t rule out bezel-less smartphones completely.
